Farmer’s markets and gardens

Do you prefer growing your own vegetables, or do you prefer going to the Farmer’s Market?  I usually prefer both.  I plant my tomatoes, herbs, and peppers, and go to the market for everything else.  However, this year, my tomatoes and peppers got the blight.  Ever hear of it?  It is a mildew disease that turns the leaves and stems black.  My plants look pretty bad right now, but I think I will let them go until harvest and see if they are able to produce anything.  Does anyone have any similar experiences, and any solutions?  Let me know.
